The Studio

Four decades
of specialist work.
Practice Note

We don’t sell aluminium, we resolve an architectural brief.

Etherington Aluminium has been drawing, fabricating and installing architectural aluminium since 1979. The studio sits between an extrusion mill and a construction site — close enough to both that the detail never gets lost in translation.

Expertise

Decades of work across sun louvres, weather louvres, composite panel cladding systems and aluminium ceilings. Every job starts with a drawing, every drawing is tied to a site measure, every fabrication is checked before it leaves the floor.

Innovation & Quality

The practice blends mill-spec engineering with the craft of a joinery workshop. We stay close to new extrusion profiles, fresh coatings and fixing systems, and we keep the fundamentals — tolerance, finish, installation — at the front of the brief.

Bespoke Work

Standard sections cover a lot of ground. When the drawing asks for something that does not exist yet, we draft a new extrusion, press a sample and put it in the architect’s hand before the run goes into production.

Responsibility

Aluminium is one of the most recyclable materials on earth. We keep our offcuts, re-melt where we can, and specify coatings with the lowest embodied impact the brief allows.

Clients

The studio has delivered work for architects, developers and construction managers from Cape Town to Gauteng to the Eastern Cape. Every job lands with the same studio of craftspeople — the client is never handed down the ladder.

Partnerships

The best projects run for years. We aim to stay in the background of an architect’s practice as the aluminium specialist they trust to pick up the phone on the detail that does not yet exist.

Call Guy, John or June — or drop an email with the drawing set, a scope note, or even a sketch. We will reply with a proposal that treats the project with the care we would give our own.
